Recipe:

Ingredients 500 g Scone Mix 1 kg Scone Mix
Scone Mix 500 g 1 kg
Large Eggs 1 2
Water 225 ml 450 ml
Melted Butter 15 ml 30 ml
Milk (For Brushing) As needed As needed

Baking Instructions

  1. Prepare: Preheat your oven to 225°C. Lightly grease or line a baking tray with baking paper.

  2. Combine: Place the Scone Mix, eggs, water and melted butter into a mixing bowl.

  3. Mix: Using a flat beater attachment, mix on low speed for 2 minutes until the ingredients are combined.

  4. Beat: Increase to medium speed and mix for another 2 minutes until a soft dough forms.

  5. Rest: Allow the dough to rest for 5 minutes before rolling out.

  6. Roll: Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently roll out to approximately 15 mm thickness.

  7. Cut: Using a scone cutter, cut the dough into evenly sized rounds and arrange them on your prepared baking tray.

  8. Brush: Lightly brush the tops of the scones with milk to achieve a beautiful golden finish.

  9. Rest Again: Allow the prepared scones to rest for another 5 minutes before baking.

  10. Bake: Bake at 225°C for approximately 15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and fully baked.

  11. Cool & Enjoy: Allow the scones to cool slightly before serving with butter, jam, cream or your favourite toppings.

Approximate Yield

Based on portioning approximately 60 g of dough per scone.

500 g Scone Mix 1 kg Scone Mix
Total Dough ±790 g ±1.58 kg
Medium Scones (±60 g dough each) ±13 scones ±26 scones

Yields are approximate and may vary depending on egg size, the size of your scone cutter, dough thickness and portioning.

Baking Tip: For beautifully risen scones, avoid twisting the cutter when cutting the dough. Press straight down and lift gently. For a delicious variation, add grated cheese, herbs or your favourite savoury ingredients to the dough before shaping.

Please note: Baking times may vary depending on your oven and the size of your scones. Allowing the dough to rest before rolling and again after brushing with milk helps achieve the best results.
